Oma’s German Cookbook

In order to have all of my Oma’s handwritten recipes in one place, I have started to design a cookbook showcasing them. By using the blackletter typefaces, I reflected the bavarian style that is recognizable from her German heritage. Because her written recipes are in German, I decided to scan the recipes in and use them as an overlay over the image for the recipe while using the translated version as the copy. In addition, I wanted to keep the overall look and feel of the cookbook in the era of when she made these recipes so I sourced imagery that would speak to that time period.
